Meet Chef Dan Rosen – Private Chef & Culinary Explorer in Washington, DC

Chef Dan Rosen is a classically trained private chef based in Washington, DC, with roots in New York City and West Philadelphia. Raised in a family of South Carolina farmers and Polish-Jewish immigrants, Dan grew up surrounded by strong culinary traditions that deeply influenced his passion for food. From a young age, he took every opportunity to cook for friends and family, eventually turning that love into a lifelong career.

After graduating from West Philadelphia Catholic High School, Chef Dan completed his formal culinary and hospitality training at the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ, in 2006. Since then, he’s built a career defined by versatility, creativity, and hustle – from off-premises catering and launching new restaurants to running summer camps and preparing meals for then-Vice President Joe Biden.

Driven by curiosity and a thirst for culinary knowledge, Chef Dan spent 2016 backpacking through 11+ countries across Europe, immersing himself in local food cultures and techniques. He’s also traveled through Mexico, Jamaica, and Israel, learning directly from chefs, street vendors, and food artisans around the world.

Inspired by the people, places, and flavors he encounters, Chef Dan brings that energy home to every meal he prepares. His cooking is grounded in bold flavor, homemade quality, and elevated presentation. Whether he’s curating a private dinner, hosting a pop-up, or catering an event, one thing is certain: he cooks with purpose. Anything less would be uncivilized.

“Always punctual, professional, and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!” – Courtney D.
